Default I had two of these long ago

The first one a 1972 500cc, blew the crankshaft at over 100. The second one a 72 was OK, fast but just OK.

Way too much engine for the frame, hence the name "Widowmaker" for the 750. I still want one. I figure the 750 motor in a street tracker frame and you would have a head turner. Nothing like the sound of a two stroke triple.

Cool

I didn't even realize that large of cc was made in '72. The first bike I had was a 350 Honda and I thought it would simply fly! I guess I must have had my head in the sand. Of course the way we lived life in the '60's, That's a nice way of saying our "light's were on but no one was home!". Whew... did someone say "WOODSTOCK"?
Were large engines made in the 50's and sixties?

Default Big CC metrics

The late 60's say the beginning of the end for British and Harley dominating the racing. From 1940 to 1965 the Brits were taking more and more of the titles away from Harley. By 1970 Yamaha had their four cylinder two strokes on the track, I think 700cc and winning from then on. The other metrics followed with larger bikes as well. In 69 and 70 Norton was king of the road with its 750. The Jap metrics had some 500cc but in 71 Kaw brought out their 500cc triple to contend with. They did not handle, at speed well, but in a straight line were super fast and light. The rest is history.

Look man that was BH bike I would say the boy & girl are his kids ,
either that or BH was the shortest rider I have ever seen ,
I had a Kawasaki 1100 in 1978 or79 that bike was the fastest bike I have ever owned the speedometer went to 140 or 160 if I remember wright Can remember doing 140 on it one day at the air strip in Albuquerque new Mexico
before I shut it down it still had more but I was just dumb not that dumb to keep going 140 is the top speed I have ever been ,and I will never do it again ,
the bike was stable but I just couldn't see going any faster ,I backed her down and shook for 1/2 an hour knowing I could have killed myself I was wearing all the gear but at 140 don't think it would have mattered if I had went down .Boy what a ride

The Kawasaki 1100 was a screamer - - dag-nab-it - - she was quick, wasn't she? 140 on or in anything is fast - - a lot of wind out there and your checks are floppin all over your face
