Default Ducati to enter the cruiser market?

You heard right, it looks like Ducati is entering the cruiser market.

Could Ducati be building a street cruiser to compete against the likes of Harley-Davidson? That’s the rumor behind the so-called Ducati Vyper, which was started by a statement made by Ducati boss Claudio Domenicali, who revealed that Ducati is looking to branch out into a wider market. The 1400cc 170hp prototype is said to be already in running form, and has started preliminary tests at the Bologna factory.
The Vyper will feature a stroked version of the company’s Testastretta engine, and house it in Ducati’s signature steel-trellis frame. A 240 rear tire mounted onto a beefy hollow-section swing-arm is also believed to be on the new machine. Luca from Bar-Design has made some exclusive renders of the Ducati Vyper for Asphalt & Rubber, and if the original looks anything like this, we might just be believers in the Italian chopper concept.

I don't like it either. Especially the head light.

That's their comfort seat in the picture, have you seen the 1198? BandAids have more padding.

I don't know if I would call that a cruiser or not but I like it a lot. Not sure I would be takin g any long road trips on it though. Looks more like a very high tech bobber to me.

I agree totally. I do like the design, as bikes go I think it's very nice looking but it surely aint no cruiser.

Ducati should take notice of the lack of success of Suzuki, Kawasaki and Buell. HD is trying to force Buell down everyone's throat and they're spending a fortune trying to popularize it.
Suzuki and Kawasaki are having to retreat in the cruiser areas due to lack of sales.
If this is Ducati's idea of a cruiser, I have to wonder what drugs their designers are taking!!!
